The lighting here is somewhat uneven in spots, stacks of boxes are scattered across the place as if they just got a truck load and didn't bother putting the merchandise on the shelf. For me, this is where you can find hidden gems for food. For many people, a janky-looking spot would immediately turn them off. The market wasn't busy and parking outside was easy to find. You’ll get some gorgeous photos.Ĭopyright – © BrokenSphere / Wikimedia Commons.***CASH ONLY*** Went here on a weekday afternoon during lunch. What to Take on the Bangkok Noi Boat Tour – Sunscreen is vital, as it’s very hot out on the open water. Just choose which canal route you want to take when booking the tour. ![]() ![]() There are slight variations on this theme. Our fourth destination was through the Bangkok Noi Floating Market, where we got to see up close and personal all the market vendors on their boats, going from stop to stop selling noodles, flowers, fruit, hats and every Thai product imaginable.įor our final stop, instead of returning to Tha Chang pier, we asked the boat driver to drop us off across the river at Wat Arun, the famous Temple of the Dawn, where we toured the grounds, climbed one of the ancient chedis and took photos, before taking a 3 baht (8 cent) ferry back across the river to a restaurant for lunch. Our third stop was an orchid farm, where we learned all about how orchids are grown, what types of orchids are the most common and the most expensive and were allowed to walk through the farm to see the different types of flowers. When we were finished, we got back on the boat and continued on to one of Bangkok Noi’s old temples.Īt the temple, we spent 15 minutes touring the grounds and the temple and taking photographs, then back on the boat for another cruise through Bangkok’s canals. At the museum, the boat driver dropped us off outside the front gate, then tied up his boat and lay back to take a nap while we toured the museum. Where Will You Go and What Will You See? – Our Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tour, at our request, started out going north on the river to the Royal Barge Museum to see the Thai Royal Family’s ceremonial boats. For a total of 800 baht ($27 or $13.50 each) we had the boat for three hours and were taken to four different places, where the boat driver dropped us off and waited for us to finish before coming back to the boat and continuing on the tour. The last time I arranged a Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tour, we paid the longtailed boat driver 700 baht for the boat and I gave him 100 baht tip once we’d finished. They will either charge for the boat per hour, with most tours taking at least two hours, or per person for the larger boats. How Much is a Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tour – Of course, like in any country where people are dealing with tourists, the canal boat operators will try to get the highest price possible. Speak to a couple of salespeople to find out how much hiring a long-tailed boat for a couple of hours is and, as they’re all pretty much the same, take the one with the lowest price. At Tha Chang, as soon as you get off the boat, you’ll see several stalls set up offering Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tours. The best and easiest way to arrange one is to take the sky train to Saphan Taksin station and take the Chao Praya River boat north up the river to Tha Chang Pier. Where To Go To Arrange a Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tour – The Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tours can be arranged from specific piers along the Chao Praya River. On a hot day in Bangkok, there’s nothing more fun than taking the Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tour and here’s how to do it. It’s a hidden area, full of small canals or ‘klongs’, traditional wooden Thai riverside houses and old temples. Bangkok Noi is one of the oldest areas of Bangkok and technically means “Small Bangkok”. Rather than book it through a tour company, which is prohibitively expensive, I always arrange a boat tour around Bangkok’s Noi’s canals myself. ![]() One of my favorite tours to take in Bangkok, Thailand is the Bangkok Noi Canal Boat Tour.

Especially a gyno exam! If that sort of exam can be accomplished virtually, give the inventor a Nobel Prize! It's geared to people who haven't seen a doctor in years, as if talking to a doctor over a screen, after years of neglecting your health, will help with any serious medical issues. Think it's for a virtual medical exam app. This horrible ad has been running since last year, at least where I live. I don't even know what the commercial is for. Get your docs in a row! Probably already mentioned but it's been playing a LOT recently. These commercials are the absolute worst! Seriously, WTF were the ad agency idiots thinking? I won't even get into the terrible music choice, with some 'singer' screeching. Why would people run into a house if someone was about to sneeze? Trying to avoid Covid? As if his sneeze would spray across 20-30 feet? Of course, the box of Kleenex is shown. The other guests are seen running inside a house because he’s about to sneeze. The man is attending, what I assume, is a backyard barbecue. This commercial is as absurd and ridiculous as the other recent Kleenex commercial with the bearded guy in a backyard, who is obviously allergic to the grass/flowers. As if small kids don't do such things? Perhaps he's a part-time father? The father makes a horrified face as his small son wipes the snot on his t-shirt. He appears to be in another room, but gets nauseous seeing what the kid is doing. It’s assumed the guy looking at the kid and getting nauseated by the snot bubble is the father. There's about three kids in room playing. ![]() The current Kleenex commercial with the kid and the snot bubble on his nose, WTF? What were the agency assholes smoking? (More proof of his awfulness - google his name + George Harrison). He occasionally has patients on and he goads them into telling him/us how wonderful "Dr. And he refers to himself in the third person. Lederman" - touting his wares on the radio with the worst voice imaginable. ![]() The other one that I can't wrap my head around is a cancer doc - "Dr. You have to hear these to hate them, but that was a taste. My doctor keeps tellin' me 'whatever yer doin, keep it up.'" And so on. One of them is for a product called "Fruits & Vegetables" - stupid supplements containing (you guessed it) fruits and vegetables, with the worst caliber of whiny, bogus "testimonials" delivered with awful faux sincerity by people who are supposed to be "everyday folk." Inane scenarios like "I'm a guy of 78 and lemme tell ya, I was gettin' a bit sluggish but then I started with the Fruits & Vegetables and now my grandkid can't even keep up with me I mean, lemme tell ya this product is terrific. (I listen to the news - 1010 WINS - in the kitchen). Most of the commercials I'm currently hating are on the radio. I've come to appreciate it's delightful citrusy notes but it really is in fact terrible. It was quite fortuitous though because it left me with an extra $12 which I then spent at the liquor store for like 1000 ml Canadian Host the bottom of the bottom shelf whiskies which I developed a taste for after my dad gifted me a bottle after we reconnected after 12 years of estrangement. Unfortunately the idiot contractor and architect didn't take life into account. I've been on too many jobs where, yes it works per the load table. With spans that big I would not recommend just looking at load tables and saying 'oh that works per the load table'. There are however jobs where I leave the Spec work to a Pro. I've dealt with enough jobs, engineers and architects to know what will and what won't work. I've been in the trades my whole life and have no issue designing or spec'ing loads or structural components for 'normal' houses. If you don't have the money, then you probably shouldn't be bigger that monstrosity. Of course if you are building rooms that big you should have sufficient money to hire an SE. So unless you are a licensed SE, hire one. Those rooms are too big for a layman to read books and design it himself. Hopefully this doesn't sound too rude, but if you are building rooms that size you should be hiring a Structural Engineer to do your load calcs. any information on the beam size would be appreciated. The room is 34' x 25'8" and the way it is designed the beam should span the 34'. it seems to me that a single I beam is more cost effective than all this lumber. I have all the formulas for calculating the size of I beam needed but i would like a little reassurance from some other professionals. i have redesigned the lvl support beams as to where it will work but i am increasing the amount of material as to where the cost is getting high. the reason this became an issue is i have another room with a 34' span and a lvl beam will not work because of deflection. instead of using engineered lumber, would it be more cost effective to use a single I beam for the main beam and the tributary. there is also 3 - 24" lvl's that t into this beam about half way that spans 21.5' also supporting joists. in the icc joist table i used live load 20 psf and dead load 10 psf to calculate joist sizes. i have 4 - 24" lvl's to carry the load over the 29' span. I am designing my house and i have a room that is 29' x 41.5' with 2 different ceiling heights. * Pick up bullet time powerups for a boost in combat. * The spectacle is made more spectacular with Box2D physics. In VR it's nice to see Myst from a new perspective, and even just on desktop it's a beautiful looking game: hypnotic ocean waves lapping at the shore, clouds rolling overhead, and a few nice details like a small green frog hopping along a bridge in the woods. Solving a puzzle, or even figuring out what the puzzle wants from you, results in plenty of happy eureka moments, not just from feeling smart but from having resisted the urge to cheat by looking up the answers. Sound often comes into play, which I really love, like a distant clunking sound while turning a wheel in a cabin, or the hum of a wire that lets you know a current is running through it, or an underground train puzzle where sounds play at the track intersections and combine with one another to give you directions. Sometimes simple observation can get you a long way toward solving a puzzle, like noticing a locked rocketship is connected to a brick bunker by an electrical wire. There's still a lot to enjoy, though, and plenty of clever puzzle design. There's a bit of story and lore told through books, notes, and holograms (originally they were cheesy FMV, now they're cheesy CG) but Myst is mostly built from puzzles, not stories. To gather the missing pages of the book and discover the story of the island and the family who once inhabited it, players need to solve elaborate puzzles that transport them to new islands, where they complete even more puzzles in order to return. In case you haven't had a chance to play one of the many versions of Myst in the past 28 years, the adventure game begins with you trapped on a strange island after reading a strange book. Myst, no matter how it looks in 2021, feels pretty outdated. Cyan Worlds say it's a "reimagined" Myst, but while it's far more modern-looking it's still almost exactly the same game. As a remake, Myst is a faithful one, but maybe a bit too faithful. And this new 3D Myst works on both desktop and in VR, so I got to spend time actually (virtually) walking around in it. ![]() Cyan Worlds has completely remade the game (again, following 2000's realMyst and 2014's realMyst: Masterpiece Edition, neither of which I played). There are dozens of numbers used from 1955 through the ’90s, but there are a few standouts that indicate a performance engine. The first place we typically look is the casting number on the back of the block. These heads were used on performance engines (300 hp and up) and were used on iconic engines like the DZ302 and LT-1 from 1969 through the early ’70s, so that was an instant win. Upon arrival, we were pleased at first glance because the engine has a set of small Camel Hump heads (also called Double Hump) with accessory holes. No information was provided with the car or engine, so we took a chance because the price was right, and we needed to get the deal wrapped up quickly. In the case of our subject engine, we picked it up in a package deal with a ratty late-’70s Nova. Without even looking up the numbers, we know these heads are desirable based on the fact that they were used on 300hp and higher engines from 1969-72.Ĭheck it out: A Budget Small-Block 355 Hydraulic Roller Cam Conversion Another immediate clue to this engine’s identification are the later Camel Hump heads with accessory holes.
